My friends are amazing!!!

I had my baby shower yesterday and it was so wonderful!!! Suzie, Katie, Laura, Steph and Miriam were my amazing hostess and we ended up having it here in the hospital and it couldn't have been better. It was so nice to be able to get dressed and do my hair and makeup and feel "normal" for a couple hours. It was so wonderful to see so many of my favorite women and everyone was so generous that Jamie and I are blown away. We started with some food; finger sandwiches, scones and clotted cream, artichoke dip, veggies and dip, and cookies. Then we played the "guess what chocolate is in the diaper game", which I had never played before and was really quite fun :) Then we opened presents and the guest played baby gift bingo and a game where they cut pictures out of magazines to create a baby they thought would look like babyjack... that was hilarious. There were SO many gifts, it was so overwhelming. Then we had cake... spring fling from The Market... YUM!! What a wonderful day and I can't thank my friends enough :)

Baby Update :)

I had a growth ultrasound yesterday and the awesome news is that the baby is growing on track!! That is huge because it means that my placenta is providing the baby with enough nutrients to develop and as long as that keeps happening we're a little less worried about my abruption (unless I totally abrupt, but that is a different story). I also only have 10 days to go until I hit 28 weeks, which is a huge milestone for the baby and the goal I set for myself :)
Other than that I'm just kind of hanging in here and taking it day by day. I've come to terms with the idea that I probably won't leave the hospital until I deliver and we hope that is quite a while down the road. But as I keep telling myself; I would much rather have to lay in this hospital bed for months than have a baby in the NICU :)
Jamie and I have started the process with the design center to choose the finishes for our house. It should be interesting how this all goes ;)

Houston, we have a house!!!

YIPEE!!!! Yesterday Jamie and I became the proud owners of a single family home in Stapleton. We are beyond excited, and a little freaked out, but I think it's going to be really good for us. The house isn't finished yet, it's in the framing stage... but that means that we get to pick all the finishes. We're hoping that the design center will let Jamie borrow some of the samples so I can have a look at them, because the thought of giving up "control" of the choices is more than a little overwhelming to me.

Our elevation. Our house will be be cream (where this picture shows the darker color) and a sage (where the lighter accents are).

Main level floor plan. We'll have the study, not the 4th bedroom, and the fireplace

Second level floor plan, we will have the 2nd floor laundry.

In other news I'm still in the hospital... I've had a couple more bleeding episodes, but the baby is doing well which is the important thing. It definitely doesn't look like I'll be going home anytime soon, but I'm just hoping to make it a couple more weeks at the very least. I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and I would really, really like to make it to 28 weeks at least. It's frustrating because no one has any idea what is going to happen... I could last another day, I could last 14 more weeks!

BIG brown squares of food!!

I'm not sure my mouth or stomach has ever been this happy ;) I just received the most wonderful package in the mail... caramel rolls from Lang's Cafe in Pipestone, MN. What are those you ask? The best answer is heaven on a plate. My amazing Auntie Sara (I call all my Aunts "Auntie") sent them to me and I can't imagine a greater gift... I just devoured my first one and there are many more to keep me happy. Baby Schwab is currently having a dance party in my uterus due to the large amount of sugar I just consumed :)

I also received a wonderful care package from my friend Cathy yesterday.. complete with Hubba Bubba and belly jewels... what else does a girl need? I am truly spoiled, everyone is being so kind and generous during this time :)

When it rains it pours...

So we sold our townhouse :) Yay, right? Yes, we are super excited, but holy heck is this stressful! Now we not only have to find a place to live, but Jamie has to find it WITHOUT me. I love not having control over that issue ;) He's out looking right now so hopefully he'll find something good.
I had another ultrasound today and my abruption isn't getting worse, though that doesn't always mean anything because it doesn't usually tear a little at a time, it just abrupts and you have to deal with it. But the baby looks good and my bleeding has definitely slowed so they are happy so far. They took a couple 3-D pictures and I've included them below.

This is a picture of the baby's leg, in kind of a squatting position

Here is the baby's face, and you can see the torso (ribs) and a knee
The hospital is good... the nurses are so nice and I am very well taken care of. My friends and family have been absolutely amazing with their support and prayers and food... we are SO grateful :) I moved rooms and am now in a bigger, long-term, room. It's pretty nice and has a big fold out bed for Jamie :)

My new home away from home...

We unfortunately had an eventful weekend as I was admitted to the hospital and will be here, on bed rest, for an undetermined amount of time. My placental abruption is back and it has taken a turn for the worse. Sunday they told me that I needed to be ready to deliver at any time (yes, 16 weeks early) and that I would be in the hospital until I delivered. Luckily my doctor gave me some good news yesterday and told me that there is a chance I'll get to go home (if the baby continues to grow well... meaning my placenta is functioning correctly, and I stop bleeding) in a month or 2, and she doesn't think I'm in imminent danger of delivering any time soon, which is music to my ears :) So I'm trying to stay positive and take it day by day... but here is a look at my new digs ;)

Honestly it hasn't been too bad... I have discovered what an amazing support system I have and they've already rallied around me and planned out a dinner schedule for the next 3 weeks. Everyone is so helpful and as hard as it is for me to accept help, I'm really trying to be gracious and accepting ;) I know that we have a long road ahead of us, and I'm so grateful to have such wonderful friends and family!
Luckily I got a lot done last week so I'm not feeling too deprived. I had a couple great meals. I met Ania and Miriam out at Soliel last week(http://www.soleildenver.com/). We had a fantastic meal of frites (w/ parm and white truffle oil), queso azul (blue cheese dip served with root vegetable chips), pizza with figs, mozzarella, gorgonzola, pine nuts and a balsamic reduction and a tomato and mozzarella salad. So fantastic! Then we followed up the meal with some gelato ;)
Friday I got my hair done... yay for pretty hair...
it is so much shorter, which isn't great for bed rest, but I really like it and it was nice to get pampered a bit ;)
Saturday I spent the day with my parents and my father cooked some great stuff for me as usual. My mom showed me my bedding (I didn't get to keep it because it's a shower gift) and it's SO cute!!! Then we had dinner at Osteria Marco (http://www.osteriamarco.com/) with Matt and Janet. This is one of my new favorite restaurants! They make their own cheeses (out of pasteurized milk) and they are so fantastic. We started with marinated olives, marcona almonds and their burrata cheese (homemade ricotta surrounded my a mozzarella shell) served on toast. Then I had an order of homemade mozzarella for dessert. Their cheese is SO good.
So at least I had a couple great meals this week to make up for Denver Restaurant Week that I'll be missing ;)
All in all I'm hanging in here and hoping to let my baby grow a bit more before it's ready to come out!
